Crest Oral-B names 2nd hygienist award winner

Trudy Meinberg, RDH, from the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) College of Dentistry, has been selected as the second recipient of the Crest Oral-B Pros in the Profession award program.

Meinberg has distinguished herself through more than 30 years of practice in both private and collegiate practice settings, the companies said.

In her role as a staff hygienist and clinical instructor, Meinberg sees patients and works with the periodontal residents concerning their maintenance therapy education. She also teaches clinical periodontics to undergraduate dental students at the UNMC College of Dentistry, where she received her Bachelor of Science. In addition, she has contributed to several research studies and has been published in a number of scholarly journals.

Meinberg' love for oral care also extends into her community, where she volunteers and has helped members of her local Boy Scouts troop earn their dental merit badge.

"I not only want to give people a thorough cleaning, I want to educate them about proper oral hygiene at the same time," she said. "As a Pro in the Profession, I have even more opportunities to educate people on how to have better oral hygiene now and into the future."

As a Pros in the Profession winner, Meinberg will receive a $1,500 monetary prize; an all-expenses-paid trip to the American Dental Hygienists' Association (ADHA) annual meeting in Nashville, TN, in June; a spa experience; an award; and recognition at major conferences and in dental trade publications throughout the year. She will also receive an exclusive trip to P&G headquarters with four other Pros in the Profession award recipients.
