Thousands attend free dental clinic in Ore.

More than 2,000 people in need of dental care attended the first day of a Mission of Mercy free clinic in Portland, OR, this week. The two-day clinic, which began November 22, is being held at the Oregon Convention Center, according to a story in the Oregonian.

The 100-chair clinic can handle about 1,000 patients a day. The Oregon Dental Association partnered with the nonprofit America's Dentists Care Foundation to host the clinic. About 1,200 dentists, hygienists, assistants, dental students, pharmacists, and other community members volunteered their services, and the convention center donated the space.

The event -- the first Mission of Mercy clinic organized by the state dental association -- was also supported by numerous corporate partners.
