New Zealand firm targets U.S. oral health market

Blis Technologies is looking to increase its presence in the U.S. oral healthcare market this year through a series of distributor relationships with major retail outlets.

The New Zealand company's U.S. business strategy is to work through distributors to promote the Blis probiotic products to leading manufacturers of dietary supplements, according to a company press release and news reports.

The Blis M18 probiotic -- developed specifically for the prevention of tooth decay -- is being marketed by Nature's Plus under the brand name Tooth Fairy. The company is currently targeting the children's oral healthcare market with this chewable product.

In addition, in October 2009 the company commenced a 50-store commercial trial of its Blis K12 probiotic product with Costco. The product is being sold in the U.S. under the brand name BioGuard.
