United Treatment Centers will launch its Aquafree waterless toothbrush Nov. 29 at the Greater New York Dental Meeting, the company announced.
In addition, the company has created a Web site from which customers can directly purchase the brush.The company is touting the brush as more hygienic because there is no risk of spreading pathogens through a shared tube of toothpaste. A bladder in the toothbrush handle contains a liquid dentifrice that flows through a check valve into ports in the head.
The company also says that the liquid dentifrice cleans better because it moves between teeth more easily. The dentifrice "has antibacterial disinfectant properties" but does not contain fluoride. It "activates salivary glands" so the user doesn't need to rinse with water.
"By eliminating the need for water, our dental products save millions of gallons of water annually and present a safe guarantee to dental hygiene in unsanitary conditions," the Web site says.
