Dentsply Sirona announced it has acquired direct-to-consumer clear aligner company Byte.
Based out of Los Angeles, Byte is a rapidly growing firm in the direct-to-consumer clear aligner market. The company leverages a nationwide network of licensed dentists and orthodontists to provide doctor-directed care to assist patients with mild and moderate orthodontic needs.
The transaction, which closed on December 31, 2020, allows Dentsply Sirona to expand the clear aligner market by connecting more patients with dental professionals for quality oral healthcare, the company noted. Dentsply Sirona also has SureSmile clear aligners in its portfolio.
Dentsply Sirona also said it can utilize its research, development, and commercial capabilities to drive the growth of Byte's solutions. Byte CEO Neeraj Gunsagar and the existing management team will continue to operate the company.
