A Michigan dentist has agreed to pay $125,000 to close a federal investigation into his writing of unnecessary prescriptions.
Federal regulators noted that Marc Kamp, DDS, is not protected from a criminal investigation, according to an Associated Press article. He is accused of writing hundreds of prescriptions for painkillers and antianxiety drugs without a legitimate medical purpose for a four-year period.
The agreement with the government also noted that Dr. Kamp did not inform federal regulators about a six-day suspension of his state dental license. In 2009, Dr. Kamp was convicted of ethnic intimidation.
