ADA Science Institute names new chief science officer

The ADA Science Institute announced that Daniel M. Meyer, DDS, has accepted the position of chief science officer. In his new role, Dr. Meyer will serve as the ADA's chief scientific expert and thought leader who cultivates stakeholder relationships and collaborative, evidence-based oral health recommendations for the public and the profession.

Dr. Meyer will also provide consultation to the ADA Foundation on opportunities for scientific collaboration and continue to provide consultation services to the Federation Dentaire Internationale (FDI) World Dental Federation and the World Health Organization (WHO).

Dr. Meyer previously served as the senior vice president for the Science Institute, where he directed various programs and provided guidance within the institute to address current and emerging issues. Prior to joining the ADA in 1995, Dr. Meyer was the director of clinical research and the executive officer at the Naval Dental Research Institute.

Dr. Meyer earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Marquette University and his certificate in endodontics from the Medical College of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University.
