What does it mean for you as a dentist when one of the largest companies in dentistry introduces a new CEO? We had the chance to find out when Dentsply Sirona introduced its new CEO, Donald M. Casey Jr., on Thursday. Casey spoke enthusiastically about keeping the company's focus on serving the dentist and about increasing the rate of technological advancements. Read more here.

Also here in Chicago, Dr. Roger P. Levin spoke on Thursday about the pillars on which successful practices are built. What are those two pillars? Find out here.

On Monday, we'll be bringing you more coverage of the 2018 Midwinter Meeting, including a session with Rella Christensen and the presentations of the Dental Excellence Awards.

Also this week on DrBicuspid.com, an accurate measurement of a patient's periodontal pockets is needed for proper treatment planning. But traditional methods of measurement can be imprecise. What if there were a way to image these pockets with cone-beam CT so you knew their depth more precisely? A new study took the first steps down this road. Learn more here.

In other clinical news, large, multisite dental practices may be the way of the future, but practitioners at these sites may not be leading the way in following recommendations for sealing noncavitated occlusal carious lesions in children, according to a new study. Researchers sought to identify the barriers to guideline adoption facing dentists at a typical, large practice. Find out their results here.
