The U.K.'s Worcestershire County Council awarded a grant of up to 100,000 pounds ($131,540 U.S.) to develop COVID-19 safety equipment for dentists.
Downhurst Engineering will focus specifically on spray emitted from patients' mouths with plans to manufacture an adaptor for a "dental vacuum gauge" to measure oral spray and decrease the risk of transmission, according to an article from Worchester News. The firm is working alongside Cattani UK and will be using a new machine from Mazak to produce, develop, and supply the product to dental surgeries.
The funds come from the COVID-19 Response grant set up by Worcestershire County under the Here2Help Business program, which aims to support businesses during the pandemic.
