Georgia State University (GSU) officials, joined by students and community partners, broke ground on a new $6.3 million dental hygiene clinic that will be located at the university's Perimeter College campus in Dunwoody.

The 7,904-sq-ft facility will hold 20 operatories while allowing students in Perimeter's dental hygiene program an opportunity to complete their training using advanced equipment and technology, according to GSU.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that dental hygiene employment is expected to grow 9% from 2021-2031, faster than the average for all occupations.

The new clinic is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2023. Services will include dental cleanings, sealants, oral exams, cancer screenings, and x-rays, the university stated.
