Formlabs has launched a new suite of hardware, software, and material designed to improve the production of dental models.

The new additions include Fuse 1, a benchtop industrial selective laser sintering 3D printer that has been validated for the production of orthodontic models. With Fuse 1, large dental manufacturers can produce more than 150 dental models for clear aligners in a single print, according to the vendor. As a result, the printer can reduce the cost per part by 50% for laboratories and clear aligner manufacturers while increasing production volume, Formlabs said.

Formlabs said it is also reformulating its model resin for restorative models produced on its flagship Form 3B and Form 3BL dental stereolithography printers. The new resin reduces print speed by 50% and overall work time, including postprocessing, by 60%, according to the vendor.
