Breathometer launches new digital oral health tracker

Breath analysis technology developer Breathometer has launched Mint, a digital device for consumers that tracks and monitors their oral health.

The product consists of a handheld sensor device and smartphone app. The user breathes into the sensor device before and after toothbrushing. The company's proprietary sensor array in the device measures the difference in volatile sulfur compounds in the breath from before brushing. These compounds are produced by anaerobic bacteria in the mouth related to poor oral hygiene and oral health, such as periodontal disease and bad breath, according to the company.

The app also provides tips and tracks progress. The product retails for just under $100, and the app is available across all formats.
