3D scanner and CAD/CAM software manufacturer 3Shape has won a patent infringement lawsuit against Medit, making the use of the current version of its i500 intraoral scanner illegal in Germany.
The District Court of Düsseldorf in Germany ruled on January 9 that Medit's i500 intraoral scanner violated 3Shape's European patent on its hole-closing technology. Medit must cease all marketing, sales, and commercial use of the current version of its intraoral scanner in the country, according to 3Shape.
3Shape has the same patent in Denmark, Italy, Switzerland, France, Spain, and the U.K.
