A woman in Arizona who was arrested for allegedly operating a dental practice at her home without a license after an investigation led to the discovery of human teeth in her trash was sentenced, according to a story published on September 25 on ABC 15.

Geraldine Goez, 33, of Phoenix, was sentenced to 12 months of probation after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor count of practicing without a dental license. The felony charge was dropped in exchange for her guilty plea. Additionally, Goez was ordered to pay restitution to victims, according to the story.

The investigation began after the Arizona State Board of Dental Examiners received a complaint alleging that Goez was practicing dentistry without a license at her home.

Additionally, Goez reportedly advertised dental care services at her home on Instagram and allegedly showed pulled teeth and other dental equipment on Instagram. Furthermore, Goez reportedly recruited dental clients from her job in construction.

The illicit procedures, which included $100 dental cleanings and $10 x-rays, were completed between January 2023 and June 2024.

After obtaining a search warrant, investigators inspected the trash at Goez's home on May 22. The search revealed a dental chair, an x-ray machine, and empty vials of local anesthetics, as well as five human teeth in the garbage.

Though Goez reportedly recognized that she was practicing illegally in the U.S., she had dental experience. She allegedly attended dental school in Colombia and practiced in clinics there, according to the story.
