Texas reaches $300K settlement with Henry Schein

The Texas attorney general has reached a $300,000 settlement agreement with Henry Schein over allegations of anticompetitive practices.

A lawsuit alleged that Henry Schein violated state antitrust law by working with its competitors to prevent the Texas Dental Association (TDA) from distributing lower-cost dental supplies online, according to a news release by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. Paxton also claimed that Henry Schein and others colluded to discourage distributors and manufacturers from working with TDA and agreed to not attend the TDA annual trade show in 2014.

In 2015, the attorney general settled a similar suit with Benco Dental Supply. Like the agreement with Benco, Henry Schein must also attend an antitrust training program and stop future anticompetitive activities. The $300,000 settlement will be used to reimburse Texas's investigative costs and attorneys' fees.
