NextDent 5100 enables dental labs and clinics to quickly produce dental devices and fixtures and reduce material waste, costs, reliance on milling centers, and number of patient visits, according to 3D Systems. The printer is compatible with intraoral scanning and software systems to allow for end-to-end digital workflow, the company said.

Expected to become available during the summer of 2018 and to cost less than $10,000, the new printer is currently undergoing beta testing with some customers. Preorders will be taken during the second quarter of 2018, the company said.

In addition, 3D systems has added 18 new NextDent resins, bringing the number of resins in the line to 30. The 3D printing materials are biocompatible and come in a variety of aesthetic colors.

3D Systems also announced the expansion of the capabilities of its existing FabPro 1000 printer to dental indications, including producing surgical guides and orthodontic and denture models. The printer is expected to become available in the spring of 2018 with compatible dental materials available in the summer of 2018. It costs less than $5,000 and can now be preordered.
