Hundreds earn infection control, prevention certificate

The Organization for Safety, Asepsis and Prevention (OSAP) and the DALE Foundation said that 600 oral healthcare professionals have earned the OSAP-DALE Foundation Dental Infection Prevention and Control Certificate.

Developed by infection control experts and reviewed by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Division of Oral Health, the program focuses on applying the standard precautions as addressed in the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Bloodborne Pathogens Standard and in guidance documents published by the CDC in 2003 and 2016 for dental providers, according to OSAP.

Launched on March 10, the online educational certificate program requires the completion of two online educational modules and passing an assessment. What's more, those who earn the certificate may choose to go on to earn the dental infection control professional certifications currently being developed by OSAP and the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB), the organization said.
