June 16, 2022 -- Dental support organization (DSO) Dental Care Alliance (DCA) has restructured, creating a new division to support practices that specialize in adult oral surgery, periodontics, and more.

In addition to its existing general dentistry and family specialty divisions, the DSO will now have an adult specialty and hygiene division, which encompasses endodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics, and oral surgery. The reorganization reflects DCA's plans for future expansion in supporting both general dentistry and specialty practices.

Dr. Sarah Balaster will serve as chief dental officer for the adult division, which will support more than 100 allied standalone specialty practices. Each division will have its own management support teams.

Currently, DCA supports more than 370 practices across 21 states. Specialties currently account for about 35% of DCA's business, and significant growth is projected for the future, according to the DSO. As of May 2022, DCA was the sixth-largest DSO in the U.S.
