The companies will conduct research to build integrated insurance, oral hygiene, and wellness solutions. As an example, consumer toothbrushing data can be linked with the insurer's health outcomes data to offer dentists and consumers insight into how to improve oral health. Philips has a similar collaboration already established with a Dutch insurer, according to the companies.
A joint research project including more than 2,000 people is already underway. The researchers aim to better understand the health benefits that can result from changes in consumers' oral health behavior.
